Lieutenant Kris McCall is the assistant jail administrator and operations lieutenant for the detention division of the Transylvania county sheriff’s office. Lt McCall has been employed with the Transylvania county sheriff’s office for 19 years. Over the 19 years of employment, Lt McCall has served as a Detention officer, Deputy Sheriff, Special Response Team Leader, and Honor guard member.
Lieutenant McCall is a native of Transylvania County and is a graduate of Rosman high school. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, and served honorably for six years. In 1999, he completed active duty and returned to Transylvania County where he was sworn in as a Detention officer with the Transylvania County Sheriff’s office. He completed Detention Officer Certification Course at Blue Ridge community college in 1999. He enlisted in the North Carolina National Guard in 1999 and during his time in the National Guard, he completed two tours of duty in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) and Iraq, (Operation Iraqi Freedom). In 2004 after returning home, Lt McCall completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Blue Ridge community college and was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff.
Lt McCall is a graduate of Sam Houston state university National Jail Leadership Command Academy, The National Institute of Corrections Jail Administration course, and the National Institute of Corrections Inmate Behavior Management Course. Lt McCall has completed over 3000 hours of law enforcement training holding numerous certifications and awards. Lt McCall received the Advanced Detention Officer certificate from the North Carolina Sheriffs Education and Training Standards Commission, and the National Law Enforcement Commendation Medal.
Lt McCall is a current resident of Transylvania County and an active member of Old Toxaway Baptist Church. He is married with two children. Lt McCall is actively involved with the youth of Transylvania County, coaching youth baseball and youth football. He is a member of the North Carolina Gang investigators Association, North Carolina Jail Administrators Association and the American Jail association.
